I can not believe it is October already. The students are working very hard and we are making good progress.
The student's will not have Library next week due to an assembly on Recycling on Monday.
We are continuing Unit 2 in Math and are practicing the subtraction concept of take away subtraction, comparing subtraction, and missing number subtraction. At home it is helpful to practice subtraction facts using counters. Cereal and pennies work well as counters.
Please return the rapid naming sheet each Friday, it helps me to see how the students are doing with the HFW. Try going in different directions so they do not memorize the pattern.
A field trip is in the works for the first week of November to Pennsbury Manor. Details will be sent home later next week.
This week we had a seminarian visit us on Thursday afternoon, Mr. Flores. He spoke to us about the Papal visit and St. Francis. He will visit us every other week on Thursday afternoon.
We had our welcome class with the school counselor this week as well. Mrs. Richman showed us the catapult classroom and then we learned that we are all lovable and capable. She will come to the classroom a few more times this fall to teach the students friendship skills.
On Friday we learned how to say the Rosary and practiced saying it together. We will say the Rosary each Friday in October.
I am still praying that the PA state budget passes soon. Please call or write to your representative and urge them to get the budget passed!
Have a nice weekend!
