We will be praying the Rosary during October on Tuesday’s. Students may bring their own Rosary or use one of mine in the classroom.
Reading- This week we will be finishing up Lesson 3 on Monday, and then beginning Lesson 4. The students will have the Lesson 4 Spelling Test on Friday, Oct. 7th. Also on Friday the students will have a comprehension test on the stories for Lessons 3 and 4. The test will not include the skills, vocabulary, or phonics sections. The stories are, Dogs and Diary of a Spider.
Math- In Math we are finishing up Topic 2 this week. We will review on Monday and Tuesday, the Test is on Wednesday. Topic 2 is on addition, doubles facts, adding three numbers, and using ten frames to make a 10 when adding. We will start topic 3 on Thursday, it is on subtraction.
The students have received a Math and English Grammar Simple Solutions books today. This series of book are provide a review of skills, and are very helpful in getting the student ready for their Terra Nova Tests.
Religion- We finished Chapter 2, Jesus Christ Gives Us the Church and made a poster in class as a project for that chapter rather than a test. We are working on Chapter 3, We Celebrate God’s Love. We are also working on learning the Spiritual Works of Mercy, and how to pray the Rosary.
Poetry Project- On Friday we Skyped with our poetry project friends at St. Pius V Catholic School, in Buena Park, California. We shared poems and asked them questions about California. We plan to Skype with them once a month to share our poems.
