Dear Parents and my Sweet Little Angels,
The last day of school... the closing of one door and the opening of another.
To my Parents: I say THANK YOU for allowing me to be your child’s teacher. It has been a wonderful and rewarding year for me. I will love your children always and be interested in all that they do! It was a great pleasure to have your children in my classroom this year and watch as their personalities unfolded day by day! We have lived, loved, laughed, played, studied, learned, and enriched our lives together this year! I give them back to you reluctantly because I wish I could keep them with me forever but I must pass them on to their new 3rd grade teacher so that they may continue their journey!
To my Sweet Little Angels: I want to thank each of you for all the warmth, the memories, and the learning that we have shared this school year. A little bit of each of you will always be with me. Although our time together has finished, our smiles will never fade! We won’t forget the times we’ve spent together, the things we have learned or the memories we have made! Thank you so much for a wonderful school year! I have had so much fun being your teacher, and I wish you the best of luck in all that you do! Remember to always do your best and to be kind to others! Always strive to be the BEST person that you can be! I am very proud of all of you and know that you will be awesome 3rd graders! Have a great Summer and make sure to visit me often! I will definitely miss you but know that you will always have a special place in my heart!
God bless you now and always!

Study Guide for The Liturgy of the Eucharist
COME TOGETHER IN COMMUNION
The Lord’s Prayer
When we pray this prayer, just before communion, we pray together as a
community – to show that we are one family in Christ.
The Sign of Peace
This is a special time when we show that we are a big family in Jesus. When
you shake hands with those around you, you should remember that you are
sharing God’s love and offering friendship and peace.
The Lamb of God
In the Eucharist, we share Christ’s body, broken that it can become one.
our sins. In this prayer, we are letting him know we understand and
appreciate His Sacrifice and ask for his mercy.
Communion means to share, to come together. At this time, those who have
prepared for and received their First Holy Communion, now come forward
to share the Eucharist with the whole community. Afterward, we return to
our seats and kneel for quiet prayer time. We think about the wonderful
gift we just received and thank God for the love we share.
GO FORTH AND SHARE
The Prayer after Communion
After communion, the remaining blessed hosts are placed in the Tabernacle.
After everything is cleaned and cleared away, we sit for a moment in reflection preparing
for the Final Prayer and blessing. After the final prayer and blessing we should sing a
happy song of glory to God. Out of respect and honor,
WE SHOULD STAY UNTIL AFTER THE PRIEST HAS
LEFT THE ALTAR AND WALKED COMPLETELY DOWN
Just a reminder that the second-grade field trip to the Weather Education Day at Citizens Bank Park is this Wednesday, May 10th.
The students may dress down for the trip and dress for the weather. Lunch will be purchased at the ballpark, so students should bring money with them for lunch.
To expedite the process of entry to Citizen's Bank Park, all guests should have their tickets in hand. All guests are subject to metal detection procedures and a bag search before entering the ballpark. To accelerate the screening procedures, please bring a bag only if absolutely necessary.
Upon entering the ballpark, Phillies staff will be on hand to direct us to the field level seating locations along the first and third base line for the weather education day program. The program begins promptly at 10:30 and ends at 11:30. At the conclusion of the program, we will be relocated to our actual seats in section 428.
The game will begin at 1:05 so you may want to check out some of the activities at the ballpark.
*Ashburn Alley-festive outfield entertainment area, All-Star Walk, The Bi-Level Bullpens, Memory Lane and the Wall of Fame.
*Third Base Gate-NBC 10's Storm Ranger 10 vehicle

Because we have so many chaperones, only a few parents will have an extra student to watch. It is important that the students do not go anywhere alone, you must stay with the students at all times.

The Liturgy of the Word Study Guide
WHEN WE GATHER TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE THE MASS, WE ARE SHARING IN JESUS’ LAST SUPPER!
The First Reading
This reading comes from the Old Testament.
The Responsorial Psalm
This prayer/song comes from the Book of Psalms, some of which were written by
The Second Reading
This reading often comes from the New Testament.
Preparing for the Gospel
This is a happy song of praise to God that we sing to welcome the Gospel.
This song reminds us that Jesus won for us our salvation. We do not say this word during Lent.
The Three Crosses
With our hand held closed, like we are holding a Precious stone, and our thumb up like
a piece of chalk, we make three crosses. We pray, “May these words be in our thoughts,
on our lips, and in our hearts.” (Jesus be in my thoughts, my words and my heart!)
This is a reading from the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John.
Jesus is present to us in the Gospels.
The word “Gospel” means “good news.”
All the readings from the Mass are from “The Scriptures”
This is the time during the Mass where the readings are explained to us!
The Profession of Faith
The Profession of Faith is where we say we believe in!
We either pray the Nicene Creed or the Apostles’ Creed.
(The Apostles’ Creed is usually reserved for children’s Masses.)
General Intercessions (Prayer of the Faithful)
We pray for the needs of all the Church, living and dead.
Presentation of the Gifts
As our gifts of bread and wine are carried to the Altar, we enter
the Most sacred part of the Mass, the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Construction of The 2017 St. Ignatius Rainforest has been completed and it looks amazing! The children have done a marvelous job on their components and I can't wait for you to see it completed! The animals they created are awesome! I would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Iannacone, Andrew and Daniel for setting up our frame and to Mrs. Malaty for her help in assembling the Rainforest! Without their assistance, our Rainforest would not have been possible!
I would like to announce the next segment of our Rainforest project. As you know, the children have researched their animal and have created a creative way to share this information with the class. I would like to invite you to school on the day that your child will be making their presentation (don’t feel bad if you cannot attend)! The presentations will be done, for the most part, in the afternoons (approximately every 15 minutes beginning around 2:15) and if you would sign up on the following site we will be able to begin!
**If you have a special time request, please send me an email and I will do my best.

Within the next few weeks, Mrs. Stephanie Ryan, our Speech Teacher, will be performing a screening of all the second-grade students. She will just talk to each child for a few minutes in the hall to listen to the sounds in their speech. You will be notified of the results. If for some reason you are not interested in this screening, please send me an email to let me know.
Also, These are going to be some very special weeks filled with tons of excitement! First, is our First Communion Rehearsal on Thursday, the 4th at 6:00pm! Then a School First Communion picture has been scheduled to be taken at Noon on May 6th! The boys and girls need to be in the Church by 11:50 so that we may pose the picture and take it promptly at noon so that the children can be in their places down in the auditorium by 12:30! Our First Communion Mass will begin promptly at 1:00!
Take care and God bless,
Your Rainforest Animal is due tomorrow and the rest of your project (the report) is due on Friday, April 28th. Be creative with your report and have fun! It can be in the form of a report, a poster, a flipbook, a tri-fold display, or whatever you desire. The only requirement is that it must contain the following:
Also, don't forget to put your name on it as well!
During the following weeks, you will be the “Teachers” and help the rest of us to learn about your animal and why it is important to the Rainforest.
