I just wanted to update you on a few things we have going on this trimester. First off, we are very excited to be taking part in a global project call "If You Learned Here." In this project we will engage in a global dialog with students from around the world to share information about our learning communities. We will be making 4 video responses (once a week) that answer specific questions and then watching the videos posted by other schools to learn more about them. After that, each school will make 2 pages that will go into a global ebook. There are 76 participating schools from 20 different countries some of them including New Zealand, Qatar, Bahrain, India, Hong Kong, and South Korea. If you would like to follow along to see some of the work, you can visit the website below. I will also post this link on our Grade 3 website. Please note that our school was assigned to post in the Blue Flipgrid each week.
Secondly, we will be practicing our writing skills by taking part in the Student Blogging Challenge. This is a ten week project run by retired teacher, Sue Wyatt, from Tasmania. The students are asked to write one post a week on a specific topic and then they are encouraged to connect with other students in the challenge through blog comments. Be sure to check out our Kidblog over the next few months to see their writing blossom. When the children know that others will be reading their posts, it usually encourages them to work hard and do their very best.
Finally, on Tuesday, March 10th, the 3rd grade will be having a pasta lunch from Olive Garden because we won the Pennies for Pasta challenge in the fall. The lunch will include pasta, salad, bread sticks and water. If your child does not like those choices, then they should pack a lunch. The children will also be allowed to dress down on Tuesday thanks to Erin who won us a dress down day. Special thanks to Mrs. deJesus for picking up the food at Olive Garden for us.
Stay warm and pray that this is our last blast of winter this year!
