Hello Boys, Girls, Moms and Dads,
I hope you are having a fantastic summer so far! It seems like it is just flying by! I started off my summer vacation by teaching at two summer technology workshops. The first one was the Pact Technology Workshop hosted by the Connelly Foundation at Archbishop Carroll High School. There I was able to meet and teach 120 educators from around our Archdiocese about how to blog and make connections with other teachers around the world. My second professional development was to attend and present at the ISTE Conference. ISTE stands for the International Society for Technology Education. This four day conference is held every June in a different city and this year we were lucky that it was close by in Philadelphia. I had a lot of fun meeting up with my teacher friends from other states and countries and learning new ways to use technology in our classroom. Topics I presented on included Global Blogging and Global Collaborations. I also had an Australian teacher friend stay with me for a few days after the conference to see the sights around our area. As much as I enjoyed my PD experiences, I was happy to see July arrive so I could enjoy some much needed relaxation down at the beach.
On a much different note, if you are looking for a fun way to learn some Science, you might want to try Google Camp. It is a free online summer camp that gets kids learning through fun, interactive Science activities and adventures. As the children complete the activities, they can print and collect badges related to each activity. You can see the activities and learn more here - Google Camp.
I look forward too seeing you in September and hearing about all of the fun things you are doing this summer! Enjoy the rest of your vacation and I will see you soon!
