The children have been doing a great job settling in to third grade this year! I wanted to share a few pieces of information about upcoming activities in our classroom.
First off, we will be having our first Science test next Tuesday on Chapter D1. The children should review the notes in their copybook with an adult for a few minutes for several nights before the test. You can also go over the end of lesson questions and the chapter review with them. They can practice the vocabulary words using the website/app Quizlet. There is no need for them to log in. Just click this link Science Test One to access my saved flashcard set for this chapter. The website has different games that they can use to practice the vocabulary words. The easiest for them to do is the Scatter game.
On Tuesday, Oct. 18th, the 3rd grade students are asked to take part in the 40 Hours closing ceremony at 7 pm in church wearing their First Communion clothes, other nice dress clothes, or their uniform. We will meet in the auditorium at 6:40 pm to process in and sit together.
A friendly reminder about absence. When your child is absent, I need a handwritten note on the day they return stating the reason they were absent: sick, family trip, funeral, etc. I know it is easier to send an email, and feel free to do that as well, but I am supposed to have your signature on a note that I have to keep on file for the year. For attendance at after school activities, just send a note on the first day of the club so I know your child is enrolled and has your permission to attend. I won't need a note for the rest of the sessions. If your child is going home a different way then usual or with another child, I need a note or email. Just a reminder that students cannot ride a different bus home with a friend if they do not live in the same district.
One last piece of information that I'd like to share with you is that our classroom will be in charge of the November first FridayMass on November 4th. Students from our room will be doing the readings and taking up the gifts. The children taking part will get that information later this month so they can practice their readings at home. Please join us if you can!
As always, please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great day,
