I hope you had the opportunity to check out the new blog post I wrote sharing information about the author, Kristin Rocha, that we Skyped with on Wednesday. She was fantastic! She read to them, taught them about the writing process, played a game with them and had them talking in the bear language that is in the book. And she did all of it for free! When we got off of the call, I had 26 kids fighting for the 4 copies of the books that I had bought from Scholastic. They were so excited to read it! I sent Ms. Rocha an email yesterday to thank her again and tell her how excited the kids were to start reading. Well she just emailed me back to say that she now wants to send me 26 copies of the book so each student can have their own. I wanted to let you know right away in case you might be planning to go buy it this weekend. We will definitely need to make some thank you notes for Ms. Rocha after they arrive.
A few other quick notes. First off, I will be assigning a 10 Commandment project to the students next week so please be on the look out for the paper of information. Students will work on the project at home and present it in class during the week of March 20th. I will ask them to get the instruction sheet signed so that I know you read it. If you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to ask.
Finally, Terra Nova is coming up in just a few weeks. Please be sure that your child has 2-3 brand new, sharpened pencils by March 16th which is when we will start doing a few practice tests. Also, we could use some scrap paper if anyone has some from work that they are looking to get rid of. The children should bring in something to read or color in case they get finished the tests early. Getting a good night's sleep and eating breakfast is another good way to prepare for these tests.
Thanks for your help and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
