I hope you are having a wonderful summer! The beginning of school is right around the corner and I've been working hard at school this week to get the classroom ready. Third grade is an exciting year! One of the biggest changes that you'll notice is the need for your child to study for tests more often, especially since Science and Social Studies will be graded subjects starting this year. But along with that comes Science experiments and Skyping/video conferencing with other classes to share information about our communities. Once they settle in to the work load, they usually love learning about these new subjects on a regular basis. I have created a Third Grade Information sheet to give you an idea of what you can expect this year. You can access it HERE. I hope to see all of you parents at Meet the Teacher Day on Tuesday, September 5th from 2-3 pm and/or at Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 12th at 7 pm.
Please double check the supply list and the summer work which you can find HERE. Be sure the children bring all of that with them to hand in on our first day of school, Wednesday, September 6th. You can also drop some things off at the Meet the Teacher day.
I created a video message for the children using a website called Flipgrid. The children can watch this video and leave me a video response back. I've turned on the moderation control so none of the responses can go live until I approve them. They can watch and reply to the video HERE or by going to Flipgrid.com or using the Flipgrid app and putting in the code f55472.
I am very excited to have your children in my classroom and I am looking forward to a great year! My goal is to help your child learn, grow, become more independent and have fun in our 3rd grade classroom this year.
Enjoy your last few weeks of summer!
