The 3rd graders will be having a free lunch from Olive Garden this Tuesday, March 10th because we won the Pennies for Pasta contest in the fall. The lunch will include pasta, salad, bread-sticks and water. If your child does not like those options, they should pack a lunch or order from school. The children may also dress down that day thanks to Erin who won us a dress down day.
Math test on Time and Temperature will be given on Tuesday.
Please check out the wonderful stories realistic fiction stories that the children wrote about their flat friends. Click HERE to read the stories on our Kidblog. If you'd like to learn more about how we made the photos to go along with the stories, click HERE to read that post on our classroom blog.
Social Studies - This week's topic in the "If You Learned Here" global project is our school day. Each week 6 students will be responsible for creating the short video clip to share our answers to the posted focus questions. Last week Sophia, Nick, Ella, Andrew, Maddie and Erin did a wonderful job answering the questions about our school. You can view that post HERE and look in the Blue Cohort for our video. This week Anna, Finn, Colin I, Julia, Nanea and Tyler will be responsible. Their video will be posted HERE at the end of the week. Be sure to also look at the Padlet for each week. The children and I were amazed at the photos of the schools from last week's Padlet.
Last month we made flat friends and exchanged them in the mail with students from the St. Gillis Primary School in Champagne sur Siene, France. Each school is going to spend time with their partners' flat friends around school and their homes. We are going to post the photos and information on a shared blog so the other school can learn more about life in that country. Because the St. Gillis students are not allowed to have their photos posted publicly, you will have to be logged into the blog to see their photos. I will instruct the children on how to do that so they can log in at home to share the blog with their parents. The St. Gillis students are just returning from a 2 week break and should be receiving our special package in the mail this week. You can visit the shared blog here - Flat Friends Across the Sea.
The photos below show us with our Flat Stanleys before we mailed them. (On the USA map) and with the Flat Stanleys we received from France. We are excited to learn more about life in France!
