Dear 5th Grade Families,
Thank you all for your responses on the chaperone form and sending in permission forms. Please continue to send in the permission forms as you are able to sign them. If possible, I would like them by Friday, April 7th.
I wanted to give you all an update on the chaperone count. We have reached the minimum that I feel that I need to safely, productively, and enjoyably run both trips (1 adult for every 2 children); thank you so much for volunteering!
The cost per person is as follows and will be billed through OptionC; the additional costs for the students includes the 20.00 subsidy that has been generously provided by our Home and School Association.
Art Museum: 12.00 per student and 22.00 per chaperone
Cathedral Basilica: 8.00 per student and 18.00 per chaperone
Even though I have the minimum number, you are all welcome to sign up if you are interested in attending either trip. You can sign up to chaperone here. If you would please let me know this week, that would be great.
If you are waiting to hear back from work/make other arrangements before signing up, please let me know, and I will hold a spot for you. These two trips are generally easy to add chaperones to (as long as you have your clearances up to date), but I would like to get the majority of the trip on this cycle's OptionC bill.
Philadelphia Museum of Art Field Trip
(April 21st, 2017):
We will depart from the Yardley Train Station on the 8:11 AM train, and we will arrive at 30th Street Station. We will then cross the Schuylkill River via the JFK Boulevard Bridge and descend to the Schuylkill River Trail which will take us to the Art Museum. We will then have the opportunity to climb the steps, have a snack get settled, and the students will have the opportunity to tour until 11:15 AM. At 11:30 AM, we have a guided tour with their "Treasures of the Museum" program. Lunch will be from 12:30 PM-1:00 PM (the students will bring their own lunches), and we will eat by the river. The students will then have from 1:00 PM-1:45 PM to tour in small groups. We will then assemble at the back of the museum and then walk back to 30th Street Station for the train. The train is scheduled to arrive in Yardley at 3:42 PM.
Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul/Reading Terminal Market Field Trip
(June 12th, 2017):
We will depart from the Yardley Train Station on the 8:27 AM train, and we will arrive at Suburban Station at 10:00 AM. We will then walk to the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul for a 10:30 AM tour (after a picture on the front steps of the basilica). We will depart the cathedral basilica and walk to Reading Terminal Market. Once at the market, the students will purchase their lunch, guided by their chaperones. We will have our own room with reserved seating, at the back of the market. After lunch, we usually get ice cream (or other dessert) before assembling at a designated meeting place in the market (I'll provide a map). Then, we will walk to Jefferson Station (formerly Market East), and we will depart on the train. We are scheduled to arrive in Yardley at 3:06 PM.
