Dear 5th Grade Families,
I hope that you all are having a great summer; it has been very productive as well as exciting here at St. Ignatius with all of the improvements that we have been making.
As we begin the month of August, I wanted to remind you of some information and resources to help us all begin a successful 2016-2017 school year in 5th grade.
First, I need to order the students' DARE t-shirts. On DARE days, the students will wear their DARE shirt along with the uniform pants or skirt. The company only manufactures the shirts in adult sizes, and I will be ordering an adult small for each child. If you need me to order an adult medium for your 5th grader, please let me know via email.
Posted on the Back to School page is the 5th grade summer reading list; the summer reading list includes the Reading Olympics list for students who are interested in joining this year. I encourage any 5th graders who are interested in joining to get a head start on reading the books. An email will be sent home soon with the electronic registration form.
The 5th grade supply list is also posted on the school website.
My general classroom policies and procedures can be found in the 5th Grade Class Overview. In addition, I have posted class overviews for ELA 5, Religion 5, and Social Studies 5 on the 5th grade page of the school website; the 5th grade class schedule is now available as well.
I am excited to announce that we were able to order new reading and social studies textbooks for the 5th graders; the textbooks will also be available in PDF format on Google Classroom.
Each 5th grader will be issued a Chromebook and carrying sleeve to transport the Chromebook from class to class. The Chromebooks will be secured and charge in our classroom's cart each night. I will send out an email in few weeks to all of the 5th-8th grade families with more information.
Finally, I am including the "save the date" reminders that I included in my July email:
I hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable month of August! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, and I look forward to seeing you all and working together in September.
