I hope that you all have had a good weekend. We finished
Hound Dog True on Friday; we will begin the book Call it Courage, this week. It is a short adventure novel about a boy who faces his fears in the South Pacific.
Though it ends soon, the students have the opportunity to participate in the Read to Succeed program to receive a free ticket for Six Flags Great Adventure. The reading log can be found here and is due by Wednesday. Any reading at home from January and February (as long as it was not assigned for school) may be counted. Since it is voluntary, Reading Olympics reading does count toward that time.
Please remember to keep clipping and sending in Box Tops; the current contest ends on Monday.
Starting on Monday our Girl Scout troop will be collecting art supplies for Creative Arts Therapies at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I will have a green bin in the front of the classroom to collect supplies, which we will send down to the office.
The 6th grade students have made volcano models and prepared presentations in their science class; we will be attending a demonstration on Tuesday morning from 9:15 AM-9:35 AM.
On Wednesday,we will be attending the 9:00 AM Mass for Ash Wednesday. We will also be attending the 9:00 AM Mass on Tuesdays during Lent; please join us if you are able. Our parish is also offering an additional weekday Mass at 7:00 AM during Lent.
We will also be attending Stations of the Cross, followed by Benediction, on the Fridays of Lent at 2:15 PM (except for the Friday March 31st and April 7th). The 5th graders will be readers and altar servers on Friday, April 24th.
Join us this week for First Friday Mass at 9:00 AM; following the conclusion of the liturgy, we will recognize the Disciples of the Month for February.
Please be sure to visit the 5th Grade page of the school website for copies of the newsletter, photos, forms, homework, and the assessment calendar. Your child's religion, ELA, and social studies assessment folder can be found here: Assessment Link 2020
Have a great week!
