Thursday- Gym (Gym Uniform); Pretzel of the Month
Friday- Mass 9:00 AM; Designer Handbag Bingo 7:30 PM
I hope that you all had a great Christmas vacation; I have had a very nice time in New Mexico, but I look forward to classes resuming as well.
This coming week, we will wrap up The Lion, the Witch (LWW), and the Wardrobe, resuming the study of Confirmation (test date TBA), and wrapping up our discussion of Christmas. The following week, the students will trade LWW in for Number the Stars (abbreviated #TS on the homework page) by Lois Lowry.
Please remember that altar server applications, available here, are due back to me by this Monday, January 4th. Training will be scheduled by Fr. Dalin and me for sometime this month.
The DARE Taking a Stand Projects need to be finished to be presented on January 12th. While I am not able to commit any additional class time, any group is welcome to work/practice in the 5th grade classroom during lunch/recess. All that the groups need to do is let me know so that I can stay in with them. Click here for more information on the project; they will be presenting them during DARE class on January 12th. For this Tuesday's class, Officer Omlor will be bringing a police car and K-9 unit for the students to learn about and explore.
DARE Graduation will be held on Thursday, January 21st at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium; the students should report to the Auditorium by 6:45 PM. To assist in planning the set-up and refreshments for the evening, please respond to the form here with the number of expected guests for each students; since we only have one 5th grade class, parents, siblings, and other family members are welcome to attend. That evening, the 5th graders need to wear their DARE shirt and school uniform.
If your schedule allows, please join us for Mass this Friday at 9:00 AM. We will recognize two Disciples of the Month for demonstrating kindness.
Talent Show act submissions are due by January 7th; click here for more information and the form.
For Catholic School Week, we will once again be assembling birthday boxes (two per homeroom) which will be donated to the Fishes and Loaves Pantry in Fairless Hills; the food pantry will distribute these kits to families in need so that they can provide a birthday party. A sign up sheet is here with the items that we need for each box (one for a 10/11 year old boy and one for a 10/11 year old girl). The items can be brought in any day through January 29th; we will be assembling the boxes on Monday, February 1st. The full agenda for Catholic School Week (January 31st-February 6th) will be issued soon.
We are responsible for preparing the First Friday Mass for February. I will soon be asking for volunteers to read as well as participate in the offertory procession. The Mass readings for February 5th (Feast of St. Agatha) can be found here; Msgr. Prior is scheduled be the celebrant. Any students who are unable to read at this Mass will also have the opportunity to read at the Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 11th as well as at the First Friday Mass on June 3rd.
Please remember to visit the 5th Grade page of school website for picture, handouts, homework, the assessment/project calendar, and an archive of the 5th grade newsletters.
