Friday Directed Study Schedule
St. Ignatius Parish Bulletin
Monday- Reading Olympics 3:30 PM-4:30 PM
Thursday- Gym (Gym Uniform)
Friday- Stations of the Cross 2:15 PM
I hope that you are all having an enjoyable weekend.
This past week, we began the book Dear Levi, Letters from the Overland Trail, which is about a boy traveling from Pennsylvania to Oregon in a covered wagon. The only homework assignment that I will give this week will be to read from this book (the book is written in the form of letters that Austin is writing back to his brother Levi). The book also ties in nicely with our study of the United States (chapter 11) in social studies.
Report cards were issued this past Friday; please sign and return the envelope this week. If you would like a conference with one of the teachers, please contact the teacher directly rather than using the indication on the report card envelope. Copies of the report card can also be accessed by logging into OptionC.
I will be sending out a separate email with information about the Reading Olympics competition next Wednesday, March 29th. The students' t-shirts are scheduled to arrive this Friday.
We will be attending Stations of the Cross, followed by Benediction, on Friday at 2:15 PM. This Friday, the 5th graders will read and be the altar servers. I had asked for volunteers and use TeamShake to assign the Stations; I asked the students to review their readings at home last week, and we will practice in school this week. St. Ignatius Parish also offers the Stations of the Cross on at 7:00 PM on Fridays.
Yearbook orders are now being accepted through Friday, April 7th; click here to order a yearbook.
The St. Ignatius Passion Play will be performed on Friday, April 7th at 7:00 PM in the Church Auditorium. Click here to order tickets.
Terra Nova testing begins on Monday and will continue through next Monday. These tests are an important, additional measure of your child's achievement, and will be used along-side classroom tests, assignments, and teacher observations for the purposes of curriculum planning and instruction.
The Terra Nova testing schedule is as follows:
Monday, March 20th: In-View
Tuesday, March 21st: Reading
Wednesday, March 22nd: Language
Thursday, March 23rd: Mathematics
Friday, March 24th: Science
Monday, March 27th: Social Studies
The students will have their afternoon classes on the days that we administer the Terra Nova tests. I will not be testing the students on those days, but we will continue with reading as well as use the time to record our social studies travel videos. Extra snacks and water bottles may be packed for these days; the students will be given frequent breaks.
Please be sure to visit the 5th Grade page of the school website for copies of the newsletter, photos, forms, homework, and the assessment calendar. Your child's religion, ELA, and social studies assessment folder can be found here: Contact Assessment Link 2020
Have a great week!
