Dear 5th Grade Families,
This Wednesday, we will be attending the 9:00 AM Mass, and I invite you to join us.
On Friday, we will be attending Mass for the First Friday of March; we will also be recognizing two Disciples of the Month for demonstrating hope. The virtue for March is Love of God. The 5th graders will be preparing April's Mass on Friday, April 10th.
We will also be attending the Stations of the Cross on Friday at 2:00 PM. This week, I will be asking for volunteers to read at the Stations of the Cross on Friday 3/13. The students will be able to take home a booklet to practice at home.
Our school nurse, Mrs. Eileen Cipa, will be giving a presentation and discussing growth & development and hygiene with the 5th graders next Wednesday, March 11th. She will give separate presentations to the boys and the girls that morning. I will send the permission form home tomorrow, and I will also post it on the class page. Please return it by next Monday, indicating whether or not you would like your child to participate. Her contact information is on the form if you have any questions.
Most years, we attend the Notre Dame High School musical with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. We are working on getting everything in place to see Les Miserables next Thursday morning. If Mrs. Di and Mrs. Brennan are able to get all of the arrangements made with the transportation, we will be leaving school at about 9:00 AM and returning at lunch time. I will let you know as well as send home the permission forms.
The above trip is in addition to our two trips in the spring, I'm working on arrangements and will release everything once I have more information.
Congratulations to Braeden, Madeline, and Michael who prevailed in our class spelling bee and competed against the winners in 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Madeline and Michael were the runners-up in the final round.
I want to thank the fifth graders, Mrs. Cain, Mrs. Stauff, and all of you for the half birthday surprise this past Wednesday; thank you for the morning treat and the generous gift. I will be using the gift card to purchase books for our classroom library and support the Media Center by shopping at our school's April Barnes and Noble book fair night.
Have a great week!
