Thursday- Gym (Gym Uniform); Last Day for Lunch Program; Ascension Thursday Mass 9:00 AM
Friday- No School
I hope that you all are having a pleasant weekend. Last week, we had a student Kylee shadow from Quarry Hill. I am pleased to announce that Kylee had a great day with our class, and she will be joining us for 6th grade. We are going to be sending her a card and last year's yearbook to welcome her to St. Ignatius.
This week, we will be taking the Spelling Final Exam; I handed out the word list last week, and I will also post a copy on the ELA 5 Classroom. The list is also on Spelling City for the students to practice this week.
We will also be finishing the book Chasing Vermeer as well as the film I Confess (which is a film from the 1950s about a priest who does not break the Seal of the Confessional which we learned about in religion class). The students have also written and are in the process of recording radio commercials for Canada. I will be posting them on the 5th grade page and dropping them into assessment folders as we have them recorded.
The final exam schedule for the week of June 5th is as follows:
Monday (8:45 AM-10:20 AM): Religion
Monday (10:20 AM-11:45 AM): ELA
Tuesday (9:00 AM-10:30 AM): Math
Wednesday (9:00 AM-10:30 AM): Science
Thursday (9:00 AM-10:30 AM): Social Studies
I will review the topics for ELA, religion, and social studies this week. The exams will be taken with the individual subject teachers in that teacher's classroom.
Thank you to the 5th graders for their great performance in the Spring Concert. I was also impressed with their art work that was on display in the school.
Congratulations to Erin, Kelly, Lily, and Sophia who were promoted to Cadette at the Girl Scouts Bridging Ceremony this past Tuesday.
If you have not already done so, please remember to complete the Home and School Association Volunteer Survey. We all sincerely appreciate all of the time and effort that you are able to give to our students in the ways that work best for you all. Thank you!
On Wednesdays during the month of May, we will be praying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary with our kindergarten buddies. The students may either bring in their own Rosaries or borrow a set from the classroom.
We will be attending the 9:00 AM Mass on Thursday for the Solemnity of the Ascension, a Holy Day of Obligation. Our parish also offers Mass at 7:00 PM (Wednesday), 7:00 AM, and 7:00 PM.
There is no school on Friday or the following Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
We will be traveling to the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter & Paul on Monday, June 12th. I will provide the trip details and packet in next week's newsletter.
Please be sure to visit the 5th Grade page of the school website for copies of the newsletter, photos, forms, homework, and the assessment calendar. Your child's religion, ELA, and social studies assessment folder can be found here: Contact Assessment Link 2020
Have a great week!
