Our Student Council is collecting funds for the Legacy of Life Foundation as a part of our parish's general collection for this organization. Any donations that the students wish to contribute may be brought to school this week.
I wish to acknowledge the 5th grader's singing at both the day and evening performances of the Spring Concert. They did a fantastic job! I also thank them for their art work which decorated the program. Finally, the 5th grade members of the stage crew were invaluable in helping the show to run smoothly: Colin checked the sound levels and ran the spotlight during the 8th grade's performance; Erin monitored the sound mix on the stage and took over control of the microphone levels for the evening show.
For the month of May, (the Month of the Rosary), we will be praying the Rosary with the Kindergarten at 8:50 AM on Wednesdays. We are meditating on the Glorious Mysteries.
There is no school this Friday (5/27) or Monday (5/30) for Memorial Day.
Next Wednesday, June 1st, is our field trip to the Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter & Paul/Reading Terminal Market. Please click here for the field trip packet with all of the necessary information. Chaperones, please send me your cell phone number (via email or via text on my phone number as indicated in the packet) in case we need to communicate during the course of the day.
Please remember that we will be preparing the First Friday Mass on June 3rd. We will also recognize two disciples of the month for May following the liturgy. I will distribute the students' readings this week, and we will practice on June 2nd.
Field Day will be held on Tuesday, June 14th. For that day, the students should wear a red or white t-shirt which may be decorated. They also need to wear their gym shorts and sneakers. Here are the field day teams so that the students know what colors to wear:
Red: Jamie, Aidan, Lucas, Carter, Ricky, Jessica, Juliana, Erin, Olivia, Sophia
White: Jack, Colin, Matthew, Thomas, Meredith, Sienna, Maggie, Sara, Josie, Laura, & Miranda
After the field day events, the students will be treated to a picnic lunch (hotdogs or hamburgers) and an assembly (magic show) in the afternoon. Volunteers will also be needed, and more information will be sent home soon.
Remember to visit the 5th Grade page of school website for picture, handouts, homework, the assessment/project calendar, and an archive of the 5th grade newsletters.
Have a great week!
