I hope that you are all enjoying the weekend. As we continue to settle in and learn the ins and outs of middle school at St. Ignatius, I want to express my appreciation for the cooperation and support from the 5th graders and from all of you.
We will continue to work on staying organized and following our classroom routines over the course of the first trimester. I checked the students' binders on Friday so that I can offer them feedback this week.
Congratulations to Lily who was installed as our Student Council Class Representative at this past Friday's Opening Liturgy. Please remember that we will recognize two Disciples of the Month following October's First Friday Mass (October 7th). We discussed what it means to live September's virtue (hospitality); click here for the handout for the full year.
The Crusader student newsletter staff will meet on Monday during lunch/recess to plan the first issue; 5th graders are invited to join the staff and can join (the meetings are flexible so that the students can also participate in the school choir).
Monday is our first Reading Olympics Meeting from 3:30 PM-4:30 PM. The students may be picked up at the front entrance of the school after the meeting.
Tuesday is DARE day, and the students should wear their DARE shirts and uniform pants or skirt. Thursday evening, Officer Omlor will give an overview of the program and answer questions at 7:00 PM in our classroom. On Thursday, you can enter school through the front door.
Friday begins the first session of elective classes; the catalog will be sent home on Tuesday, and we will conduct registration during homeroom on Wednesday. The elective class dates can be found on the school calendar as well as printed at the bottom of the student class schedule.
Please remember to return the permission slip for our school pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. John Neumann on Thursday, September 29th. They were sent home on Thursday; you can print another copy here.
Next Monday (September 26th) is Picture Day; picture packets/forms will be sent out this week. The students will wear their regular uniform for the fall pictures.
Have a great week!
