Monday- Band; Newsletter
Wednesday- DARE (DARE Shirt)
Thursday- Field Trip to Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel (Regular Uniform)
I hope that you are all having an enjoyable weekend. Last Thursday, we had the DARE parent meeting. If you were not able to attend, the DARE curriculum overview can be found here.
At the end of the DARE program, the students will participate in a graduation ceremony on Thursday, January 18th at 7:00 PM in the Church Auditorium. For the graduation, I am in need of a chairperson or co-chairs to coordinate the evening. If you are interested, please let me know via email. The Home and School Association provides us with some funds for the evening.
We are also in need of a guest speaker who can give a 5-10 minute motivational talk to the students at the graduation. If you have any ideas or connections, please also let me know.
On Thursday, we will be heading to the Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel in Bensalem. The students need to wear their regular uniforms that day. We will be leaving school around 9:30 AM and will return around 12:30 PM for lunch and recess. The trip will include a tour of the shrine, time to place their prayer petitions in the crypt, a presentation about St. Katharine Drexel, and time to visit the gift shop. I would recommend that the students bring a snack to eat in the morning as we will be eating lunch a little later than usual. For the trip, the students may bring a camera (or device for taking pictures) and money for the gift shop. Both of these items are optional, and I ask that the students be diligent about keeping track of these items during the trip.
Please remember to keep clipping Box Tops; there is a collection bin in the front of the classroom by the students' mailboxes.
We will be heading to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Thursday, October 5th. The itinerary for the trip can be found here. The trip costs have been billed through OptionC. I wish to thank Mrs. Castaneda, Mrs. Erickson, Mrs. Glunz, Mrs. Klukowski, Mr. Marinoff, Mrs. Miniter, Mrs. Stickley & Mrs. Ventresca for volunteering to chaperone. Chaperones, if you could please send me a text (505-681-4682), I will create a group text for the day in order to keep in touch.
Looking ahead, there is no school next Monday and Tuesday, October 2nd and 3rd. The faculty will be at a professional development workshop at St. Michael the Archangel in Levittown.
Please be sure to visit the 5th grade page of the school website; on that page you will find the homework and long term assignment calendars, and pictures.
Have a great week!
