Dear 5th Grade Families,
I hope that you are enjoying the long weekend. Thank you to our room parents for the Valentine's party this past Thursday; I especially wish to thank Mrs. Falkenstein and Mrs. Mercado for coming in Thursday afternoon. I also wish to thank the students for Valentine's treats; not only were they very thoughtful, but they were enjoyed on Friday while I hung new wireless access points upstairs and fixed the PA speakers, cameras, and access point in the gym (they're an easy target for stray basketballs!).
This Wednesday begins Lent with Ash Wednesday; we will be attending the 9:00 AM Mass. We will be attending the 9:00 AM Mass on Wednesday during Lent, and I invite you to attend. We will also be attending Stations of the Cross, followed by Exposition, Adoration, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The 5th graders will be the readers for Stations of the Cross on 3/13.
Wednesday is also Vince's Day; St. Ignatius School will receive a portion of purchases made with the coupon which is on this flyer.
Thursday is the general assembly meeting for the Home and School Association at 7:00 PM in the Cafeteria; a presentation will be given regarding tuition for 2015-2016. Any student whose parents attend will receive a dress down day for Friday.
Folders are coming home this week (I've been using the last week or so to catch up)- you only need to sign the sheet that will be in the front of the folder. I've been trying to keep everyone caught up and sending work home with absences; the students are welcome to see me at recess or we can make arrangements for before school or after school (especially if your child goes to CARES) if he or she needs extra help or time to make up assignments.
We will also begin reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, chapter 6 in grammar (conjunctions, interjections, and prepositions), and personal narratives.
Thank you for your contributions; we raised 100.00 which we will use to order baby supplies from Babies R Us this week.
Have a great week!
