Dear 6th Grade Families,
I hope that you all are having a great summer. As we begin the month of August, I wanted to remind you of some information and resources to help us all begin a successful 2016-2017 school year in 6th grade ELA and Social Studies.
Posted on the Back to School page is the 6th grade summer reading; the summer reading list includes the Reading Olympics list for students who are interested in joining this year. The 6th graders serve as our captains and team leaders during our meetings and the night of the competition. I encourage any 6th graders who are interested in joining to get a head start on reading the books. An email will be sent home soon with the electronic registration form.
The 6th grade supply list is also posted on the school website; I wanted to point out that returning 6th grade students have the option of using their 5th grade writing copybook if they wish to do so and have blank pages remaining.
I have posted class overviews for ELA 6 and Social Studies 6 on the6th grade page of the school website; the 6th grade class schedule is available there as well. Google Classrooms have been created for both subjects, and I have posted electronic copies of the textbooks. Returning 6th graders have been invited to these classrooms; new students will be given their class codes on the first day of school.
Finally, I am excited to announce that we were able to order new social studies textbooks for the 6th graders; the students will have shelf space in the 5th grade classroom to store their ELA and social studies textbooks.
I hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable month of August!
