Weekly Newsletter for September 12th to the 16th
We had a wonderful first week in Pre-K4! Your children are doing a great job at learning the new routine and how to work together. We even got to water paint and use play doh! This week we will begin our lessons as we start our beginning Pre-K skills. Below you will see a brief description of what we will be doing in our different subject areas, and I will continue to send this home throughout the year. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
We will begin our first theme called “Beginnings.” In this theme we will learn our preschool characters and talk about some of the things we will be doing in Pre-k. We will focus on the idea of working together and taking turns.
We will begin our Math lessons by reviewing colors. We will be working in centers to sort by color and work with individual colors as well. We will even find time to read a popular color story so make sure to ask your children.
We will start working with our first reading theme, which is “All about Me.” We will focus on all of the different things that make us unique including our names and how we look. We will be reading different stories, and even find time to talk about the characters in our stories. Your children will also do their first kid-writing activity.
This year in Pre-k we will be working with a letter of the week, where we will practice it's sound and how to write it. Before we begin our work with individual letters, we will review the whole alphabet as we use the popular story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We will practice tracing some of our letters and sing the alphabet song. We will even put our letters in order as a group.
We have a very fun and exciting week in Pre-k and I look forward to beginning it all. Have a great week!
